The Nacogdoches Police Department is investigating an early morning burglary in which a homeowner was injured.
Officers were called to a residence in the 2300 block of Fore Street early this morning. The homeowner reported that at about 2:45 AM, he was awakened by two suspects forcibly entering his residence.
Once inside, the suspects, one armed with a handgun and another with a long gun, demanded money. The suspects tied the victim up with electrical wire and began searching the home. At one point, the suspects assaulted the victim my striking him with their fists. The victim was also struck on the head with the handgun, causing a laceration. The victim is a 61 year old male, and was alone in the residence.
The suspects took a rifle from the residence as well as a pellet gun. After the suspects left, the victim was able to free himself and call police.
The victim was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment of his injuries.
The suspects are described as black males in their mid 20’s, dressed in dark clothing and wearing masks. The suspects are believed to have fled the scene on foot.
