Justin Powell, 17, of Nacogdoches was killed Sunday after the vehicle he was riding in was stuck by another vehicle on County Road 817, 19.6 miles north of Nacogdoches.
At 3:47 p.m., Saturday, Jerry Glenn White Jr, 19, of Nacogdoches was southbound on CR 817 as a jeep was traveling northbound. The jeep failed to give half the roadway and White took evasive action where he lost control of his 1996 Dodge Truck on the gravel road and Powell was ejected.
The jeep then continued northbound.
Powell was pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital.
White was taken to Nacogdoches Memorial for cuts and bruises. Seatbelts were not worn.
