Nacogdoches, Tx (October 24, 2025)
At 10:22 am Friday morning, the Nacogdoches Combined 911 Center received calls reporting gunfire in the 1000 block of Hackberry Street. Callers reported seeing one subject running from the scene of a vehicle in the street and another subject laying in the street near the vehicle.
When officers arrived they discovered the subject lying in the street suffering from gunshot wounds and two other subjects seated in the car, also suffering gunshot wounds. A fourth subject was reported to be the person who ran from the scene.
One of those seated inside the car was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other two subjects were transported to local hospitals but both were pronounced deceased a short time later.
The fourth subject is still at large. NPD personnel are following leads on the location of the fourth subject.
The identity of one of the deceased is still unknown. The two deceased whose identities are known are Dequavious LeCharles Brooks 17, of Nacogdoches and Edward Alejandro Rivera, 18, also of Nacogdoches.
NPD feels confident that this incident was a targeted and isolated incident and that the neighborhood and general public are not in any danger.

The Nacogdoches Police Department has issued a warrant of arrest for Hector Cuarenta, 17 years of age, of Nacogdoches, for the charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. This charge stems from the triple homicide on Hackberry Street today in Nacogdoches. In the State of Texas, 17 years of age is legally an adult.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of this subject is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 936-560-4693 or the Nacogdoches Police Department.
Nacogdoches, Tx (October 25, 2025)
The third homicide victim from Friday’s incident on Hackberry Street in Nacogdoches has been identified.
Family of the victim helped identify 16 year-old Emilio Perez as the third homicide victim.
Perez’s identity was previously unknown until late Friday.

Nacogdoches Tx (October 26, 2025)
Late Sunday evening Hector Cuarenta, 17, surrendered himself to the Nacogdoches Police Department. Cuarenta was arrested and transferred to the Nacogdoches Law Enforcement Center.
Cuarenta was wanted in connection with Friday’s shooting deaths of three subjects on Hackberry Street.
