Kenneth D. Turner, age 84, passed away on July 25, 2013 in Nacogdoches, TX. K. D. was born September 20, 1928 to parents Henry (Bud) Turner and Pauline Collier Turner in Nacogdoches.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Hazel Hughes Turner. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Dr. Johnny Dammon officiating and Bro. Dale Weir assisting. Interment will follow at Nat Cemetery. Navy Military Rites will be rendered.
Family and friends are invited to visitation from 11:00am – 1:00pm on Saturday prior to the service.
K. D. was a true “oldtime” Christian man not afraid to get on his knees to pray. He was a member of Nat Baptist Church and attended Sunday School regularly. He served our country during WWll in the United States Navy and worked as a millright for Brown and Root retiring after more than 25 years. K.D.’s love for his family was cherished and will never be forgotten. He will be truly missed by many. He was the most unselfish, giving man you ever met.
Mr. Turner is survived by his sons, Michael David Turner and wife Mary Catherine “GiGi” of Nacogdoches, Kenny Don Turner and wife Tammy of Henderson; daughters, Mickie May of Dickinson, Dianne Stripling of Cushing; grandchildren, Casey Blankenship of Santa Fe, Kenneth Stripling and wife Tara of Cushing, Jeffery Stripling and wife Carolyn of Cushing, Kory and April Turner of Dallas, Whitney Turner and husband Clinton Guth of Henderson, Shelby Turner of Henderson; great grandchildren, Jake and Josh Blankenship of Santa Fe, Shawn Stripling of Cushing, Lindsey, Logan, Emma, Hannah Stripling of Cushing, Hannah Turner of Dallas, Tucker and Kolbie Guth of Henderson. Pallbearers will be Randy Black, Don Blankenship, Cody Muller, Joe Williams, David Rideout, and Gary Nix.

Three arrests following discovery of marijuana, cocaine, meth and codeine

The Nacogdoches County Sheriff Office has made three arrests stemming from two different search warrants that were executed Tuesday morning at two different residences. Sheriff Bridges stated that ¼ pound of hydro Marijuana, 260 grams of crack cocaine, 8 grams of methamphetamine and 240 grams of codeine and two loaded handguns have been confiscated.
The Nacogdoches county sheriff office executed the first search warrant in the 2100 block of banita street. Sheriff Bridges stated that Deputies arrived at the residence around 7:30 am. The suspect, Brian Alhashimi attempted to run from officers and destroy evidence while deputies were making entry into the residence. The suspect briefly fought with officers as they took him into custody. A search of the residence revealed a quarter pound of high grade marijuana, scales, and other drug paraphernalia.
Brian Alhashimi 34 years of age was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Marijuana a state jail felony, Resisting arrest Class A misdemeanor and Tampering with physical Evidence a 3rd felony.
Deputies executed a second search warrant at or about 10:30 am on 1400 block of Cleaver Street in Nacogdoches, Texas. Upon searching the residence deputies found 9 large crack cocaine cookies, 8 grams of methamphetamine, 240 grams of codeine and two loaded handguns inside the residence.
Arrested at the scene were Douglas Hudson 35 years of age and Dawn Dearmon Hudson 26 years of age both from Nacogdoches, Texas. Dawn Dearmon Hudson was charged with two counts of Possession of a controlled substance a 1st and second degree felony. Douglas Hudson was charged with Manufacturing or delivery of controlled substance Felony 1st degree, Possession of a controlled substance felony 1st degree and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon a 3re degree felony.
Sheriff Bridges stated that the Sheriff Office has had an ongoing investigation on all three of these suspects for the distribution of narcotics in Nacogdoches County. These are significant seizures of narcotics that were made and we are fortunate to get these drugs off our streets and to shut down these two different operations. The street value of Crack cocaine is valued at over $50,000.00 dollars, the methamphetamine is valued at $800.00 dollars and the Hydro marijuana is valued at $1,400.00 dollars.
Obituary: Norris Linvel Witcher
Mr. Norris Linvel Witcher, age 85, of Nacogdoches, Texas passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013. Mr. Witcher was born July 9, 1928, in Timpson, Texas, to parents W.E.and Odell Cogburn Witcher.
Linvel is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Davis Witcher; daughter, Pamela Witcher White and husband Thomas of Huntsville, TX; sons, Mike Witcher and wife Eva, Terry Witcher and wife Lynne, both of Nacogdoches, TX; six grandchildren, Karen White of Huntsville, TX, Kristin White Hyche and husband Eric of Norfolk, VA, Shannan Witcher Reardon and husband Michael of Burleson, TX, Josie Witcher Sandlin and husband Casey of College Station, TX, Sara Witcher and Caleb Witcher of Nacogdoches, TX; six great-grandchildren, Miranda Fontana, J.T., Sydney and Amy Hyche, Casey Sandlin and Paisley Cosby; one brother, Billy D. Witcher of Port Arthur, TX.
Linvel served in the Texas National Guard 49th Armored Division for 16 yrs. He went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1950 where he retired after 35 years’ service with them.
Norris was affectionately known as a family man. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and they all loved him dearly. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and Bob Wills music.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 am Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Dr. Johnny Dammon officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am Saturday, July 27, 2013, prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Caleb Witcher, Tommy White, Michael Reardon, Casey Sandlin, Ralph Ervin and Doug Clark.
